Judy D.Ellen Ferguson Hill, of Hwy 437, West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 at her residence, at the age of 68 years, 10 months, and 12 days. She was born on Wednesday, October 25, 1950 in Paintsville, KY, a daughter of the late John Martin and Elsie Chloe Hamilton Ferguson.

Judy was united in marriage to James Boyd Hill February 1, 1969. This union was blessed with two sons, James Bryan and Joseph Barkley. She graduated from MSU May 13, 1973 and received her Masters Degree in May 1976. She was Adult Education Supervisor in Magoffin County 1973. She taught a total of 34 years, 33 years in Morgan County at Crockett and East Valley Elementary and served ten years on East Valley Site Based Council and chaired the committee that brought close $1,000,000.00 over five years to Enhance Reading at East Valley. This was called The Reading First Grant. She retired May 31, 2007.

Judy was saved and baptized March 7, 1967 at New Salem Church and became a member of Open Fork United Baptist Church. “This was the greatest accomplishment of my life”. “Be Sure To Plan Today To Meet Me In Heaven.”

In addition to her parents, John Martin and Elsie Ferguson, she was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Bradley Stambaugh and brothers-in-law, Dorsey Bradley and Roger Stambaugh.

Judy is survived by her husband James Boyd Hill; Two sons, James Bryan “Jamie” Hill and wife Lisa, Lexington, KY, Joseph Barkley “Joe” Hill and wife Michelle, Mt Sterling, KY; three grandchildren, Taylor Hill, Morgan Hill, Ethan Hill; four sisters, Joyce Bowlin & John Roger, Sitka, KY, Eula Thomas & Bill, Cape Coral, FL, Karen Ferguson & Claude, Moon, KY, Valerie Uebelhor, Lexington, KY., Nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2019 at Potter Funeral Home with Elder Joey Ferguson, Elder James Wallin, Elder Tim Porter, Elder Jerry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery, Relief, KY. Visitation after 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Potter Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Chris Bowlin – Michael Bowlin – Garrett Uebelhor – Clayton Brown – Stuart Cook – Charlie Bolin.

So very saddened to hear of the passing of such a wonderful person. I will never forget her and what a wonderful person she was. Her smile was so welcoming and her love for everyone showed so easily. She was a wonderful role model that every child should have had the opportunity to know. May your memories of her somehow help to comfort you during this time and in the days ahead.
